I have been in the hobby since 1999 creating custom painted model horses. In 2009 I decided to add sculpture to the mix, with my first sculpture release of Sundance Kid. Although I have taken sculpting courses, most my education in art is self taught. When painting I work with mixed media using airbrushed and hand painted acrylics, pastels and dry pigments. I really enjoy sculpting so I plan on creating many model horse sculptures for the hobby. My inspiration is a deep love for horses since I was 2. I am fortunate to have bred, trained and shown horses nearly my entire life. Having horses helps with the realism I want to translate to the models. I can go to the barn and view the hair patterns in all color and coat types. I can easily view a live horse for muscle shapes and movement references needed for the sculptures. I will continue to strive for realism and natural expression with them as my guide. I moved to Colorado from Florida in December of 2005. I currently share my home with 2 cats, Anubis and Aires. I also have 2 dogs, Tex (Australian Cattle Dog) and Sirius Black (German Shephard). Jumala, our Noble Macaw has his own room now and sings Old McDonald... all day long. The horses came too. Sundance and Chevy are enjoy the drier weather and open space here. Shout out to my daughters! Have a safe trip back to Florida Heather. Good luck with school and your new career! I'll miss you. Congratulations to Alissia! I am so proud of you graduating college and landing your first job at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. Here's a link to my online photo albums. |
