Prices and Policies

Prices and Policies Page

Here you will find the information on prices and policies when booking commissions or retaining sculpting services.

Since each booking is based on a one of a kind piece, the quote and policies may vary.  Please use this as the standard guideline and refer to our individual agreement if we made special arrangements.

Please read through carefully before booking your commission.  Feel free to email with any questions at sheila@paloose-arts.com !

A copy of the limited guarantee is included with your completed model.  Please email prior to booking a slot if you have any questions.

Currently my painting books are closed.

I do not have any painting slots available at this time.

Prices are Private Treaty.  Meaning each piece will be quoted individually based on the model, amount of prep work and color/patterns you choose.  Shipping and insurance are additional.

PRICES

As a basic guide here is a price range as of 2010 (shipping is additional):

Stablemates $175 and up

Little Bits/Curio $250 and up

Classic/Traditional $475 and up

Roans, Overo, Extensive Appaloosa and heavy Dapple Grays start at $675.00 and go up to $1500 on average.

Prepping

Prepping is included on very clean cast models only.  Additional charges up to $45.00 may be added for rough casts.  Ask for quote on damaged horses.

Providing Reference Photos for Your Model

If you like a certain horse I painted, I'll be happy to do something similar.  Please understand that each piece has to be an original so I'll vary the color or pattern on very similar pieces.

All art piece are subject to the artist's interpretation especially dapples, roan, some shades of buckskins etc.  Each piece is a unique work of art and I reserve artist freedom in creating the piece.  Since I do have my own "style" feel free to refer to the gallery to see if my work fits your vision as well.

I will NOT ever accept any photos of a model horse painted by another artist as a reference photo for your horse.  I have enough painted horses so please review my albums for a color or pattern or use a live horse photo.  If you want that color and pattern painted by another artist, please constact that artist.

Trades

I have a "wanted trade list" on the Yahoo Group.  If you have a horse to trade towards your commission, please arrange any trades prior to booking your slot.

NOTE: I am no longer giving shipping credits for trades.  If you trade your horse I will give you current market value as a credit.  Shipping is at your expense.  If that is not acceptable please pay cash or arrange time payments.

Shipping:

CHANGES EFFECTIVE APRIL 2nd, 2010:

If you received free shipping or shipping included on your commission or sale please note I am changing my shipping policy.

I will be shipping any free or shipping included horses via USPS Parcel Post.  You will be required to purchase insurance for your horse.  Please visit www.usps.com for a list of insurance rates.

I normally DO NOT ship using Priority Mail since FedEx is cheaper and provides tracking.

Rush Shipments:

I can pack your horse and ship FedEx overnight, 2nd day or USPS Express Mail.  There will be a $10.00 handling fee along with the actual cost of shipping.

Due to rising costs, I will no longer offer any new shipping discounts or free shipping.  Horses will be shipped using FedEx Ground or Home Delivery only.  If you have your horse shipped to a business address you can usually have a $700 horse shipped and insured for under $15.00.

If you are sending your horse to me directly, please pack your horses as if you sent a painted piece.  Many horses are coming in lightly packed since they are unpainted.  A painted horse needs more care in packing.  If I have to add packing materials to ensure you recieve your horse safely,  I will charge a handling fee of $5.00.

International Shipments:

I will only ship international shipments for the full value of your horse and fully insured.

Please do not ask me to put a low value, ship as a gift and to type unusual descriptions.

If am more than willing to ship your horse to a US 3rd party if you choose to have your horse proxy shown.

Sculpting Slots

I will be concentrating on creating sculptures in bronze and limited edition runs in resin cast.  If you're interested in having your personal horse sculpted please contact me for more information.

Spaces are VERY limited.

LIMITED GUARANTEE:

I provide a limited guarantee.  Your model is guaranteed not to crackle, paint lift or have issues related to prepping, finger print, smudge, obvious scratch or some other obvious defect.

A copy is provided with your model upon shipping.  If your certificate gets lost just email me and I'll email a printable copy for you.

Satisfaction Guarantee!

Remember this is an art piece.

I enjoy striving for realism on all pieces.  Feel free to send in or mail a photo preference.

If you are not satisfied with shade, amount of roaning (too light/too dark), amount of dapples etc.  I will modify the horse once, if possible for you at an additional cost.

If you still aren't fully satisfied, I will be happy to take professional photos for you to use to sell your model or  I retain the model and issue a studio credit good towards another commission or available resin.   I do not issue refunds.

Policies and Payments

Once you receive a paint slot booking please provide a model NO LATER THAN 15 DAYS.  If a deposit is required, please include that with your model or send it via Pay Pal.

If the model is coming directly from the caster a Pay Pal deposit is required to reserve your slot.  (No other funds are required until the model is complete.)

If possible please enclose a card or post it note to go with your model.  Include your contact info, photos and/or color you want painted on your horse.

Due to the current workload, I cannot provide progress photos but you will recieve photos of the finished product before shipping.

Payment Due

Payment is due upon completion of your model.  If you do not pay for your model I will sell your horse and issue a studio credit less costs for up to 6 months.

Pay Pal is the desired form of payment.  Checks are not accepted for final payment.  Postal Money Orders are considered in some cases.  If sending a Postal Money Order, please note horse will be held for up to 14 days to clear the bank.

You may also make payments while the horse is waiting to be painted.

Time Payments

Time payments are always accepted on commissions and sales pieces unless otherwise noted.

Time payments are available from 30 days to 9 months.  Minimum deposits are required and equal monthly payments are due each month on the day of the sale.

Time payments require prior approval so please email before purchasing a horse or commission slot.

Making Payments

Although not required, you may send in payments rather than pay the entire balance at once as long as the model is PIF when finished.

If your commission is nearly finished and you're short on funds I can bump you back one time in the queue.  So please let me know before that time comes and I'll be happy to flip the schedule.

Can't Make Payment

If you can't pay for your horse the WORST thing you can do is ignore me.  In the past EVERY default client was easily to get hold of through the entire process until payment was due.  So I do not accept, "I didn't get the the email".

If you can't pay for the horse please just tell me before it's done.  I'll work with you.  I can't take care of my obligations when I don't get paid so please COMMUNICATE!

Cancellations, Default or Transferring Commissions:

In the event you cannot complete your transaction, please contact me.  I am always willing to work with clients to be sure you get your model horse.  Here is my standard policy...

I am no longer transferring commissions.  If you book a commission you must complete it or forfeit any model/deposit that was used to reserve your slot.  If that isn't an option for you, please complete the transaction, recieve your horse and sell it once you get it in hand.  I do not allow commissions sold before completion.

There are no cancellations or refunds.  If you have to cancel it's considered a default.  Please read default info below and information about credits.

Refunds?

There are no refunds.  The standard time period for default is 30 days.  If I do not hear from you within 30 days of your purchase, payment due date, etc. the horse will be considered in default and full ownership of the model goes to Paloose Arts.  No refunds are ever given for deposits (models count as a deposit) or payments.

Studio Credits

However a studio credit will be issued for your balance, good for up to 6 months.  Studio credits will be used towards another commission slot or an unpainted resin in stock.  Based on availability, must be PIF before commission is painted, no cash refund for any balance.  Paloose Arts reserves the right to refuse certain models.

How Credits Are Issued

Before you are issued a studio credit, any loss from the sale of your piece, ad fees, shipping costs, etc. will be deducted from your deposit and payments prior to credit being issued.

If you provided an unpainted model for your deposit, the u/p model will be returned after the commission fee is paid.  Otherwise, I will paint the model and sell the piece to cover your commission cost.  Any balance over the commission costs will be refunded to you within 30 days less Pay Pal an selling costs.

Once again, I am always willing to work with clients in the event unforeseen circumstances arise.  Please email me to see if we can come up with a solution before defaulting.  In most cases is simply letting me know, I set your horse aside and work on another till you can complete the transaction.

Thanks so much and email sheila@paloose-arts.com if you have any questions regarding my policies.
